Basic information
Name: Kirsty
Nickname/username: luna or lunaizar. I've been using luna for over 7 years now, it inspired the title of this website.
Age/date of birth/place of birth: 25 years old, I was born on 10th January, 1983, in the west of the Netherlands.
Nationality: Dutch/Scottish
Heritage: Dutch, Scottish, Irish, French
Former and current residence: I lived in Holland for 19 years and moved to the north of France in November 2002.
Starsign: Capricorn Sun, Sagittarius Moon with a Gemini rising. Born during a Mercury in retro (in Aquarius).
Education: I finished High School at 16, went to College for 2 years and studied Fashion and Clothes. Worked for a year and then moved to France. Did a French language course and graduated from that in 2005.
Photography history: I've always taken photos, ever since I was a small child. It came easy for me because both my grandfathers and my father were enthusiastic photographers so I grew up with a camera constantly stuck in my face ;) My father was a lot more serious with his photography (my grandfathers just liked snapshots and the such. They still took that seriously, they just never evolved from that stage - my father did and then I evolved even further) and when I was 16 I realized I really liked taking photos and surprisingly enough I found I could take semi decent photos, not just snapshots. The beginning of the end really! It turned into a complete obsession.
Photo equipment used: Canon EOS 300 and Canon EOS 400D with a 28-90mm and a 50 mm f/1.8 II lens; yellow, orange, red, green, UV, polarizer, close-up x4 filters and most importantly: lots of toy and vintage cameras! I sadly enough don't have the money for the best equipment around, but I manage okay. For a list of all of my other cameras, please click here. I use a lot of other photography bits and bobs; tripods, monopods and the such but nothing important enough to list here!
Other equipment used: I use a high-end flatbed scanner (Epson) for my negatives (plus positives, medium format etc) and Photoshop 7/Photoshop CS for any digital darkroom work. I don't heavily manipulate any of my work, I only do the same work that I could do in a normal darkroom.
Favourite film: I used to be a hardcore Ilford HP5+ fan, but over the years I've also found Neopan and Fomapan to be excellent so I can't really point out a favourite. For colour photos I prefer using Fuji Superia.
