Fragile

She heard the heavy sound
coming from afar
brought to her by the wind
adding its own sound to the noise

it mingled and sounded pleasing to the ear.

The eye strained to look and failed
another hour or two and it would succeed.
Bringing the two into their fragile balance again
as happened every passing day.

Fear set in when both gradually faded
entrapping her into a restricted world
allowing her only the memories
of vision and sound.
